| Largo, Florida – HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital celebrates National Patient Safety Awareness Week March 7 - 13, 2010 to educate the community, patients and their families, clinicians and others on the importance of patient safety. Adopting the theme “HealthSouth Heroes,” the hospital will recognize those who enhance patient safety inside and outside the hospital. “Patient safety is a top priority and one of the most important aspects in creating a high-quality patient experience,” said HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital CEO Elaine Ebaugh. "We know that patients have a choice and we work to enhance our culture of safety every day. This campaign is an excellent opportunity to recognize the importance of safety in our hospital and recognize those who play an integral part.” Patient Safety Awareness Week was initially launched in 2002 and is endorsed by the National Patient Safety Foundation (NPSF) whose mission is to: improve the safety of patients by identifying and creating a core body of knowledge; identify pathways to apply the knowledge; develop and enhance the culture of receptivity to patient safety; raise public awareness and foster communications about patient safety as well as improve the status of NPSF and its ability to meet its goals.
