She graduated magna cum laude from James Madison University with an undergraduate degree in speech and language pathology and a master's degree in communication disorders. During her tenure at HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital of Largo, Elaine has served as director of speech-language pathology, director of clinical services and chief operating officer, all prior to becoming CEO in 1997.
